New 13 Jul Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers attempt to trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. That was a workaround, my Ethernet wasn't working but wifi was. Pros Quick download, even quicker install. Perhaps not the best suggestion to start a new thread as there was already a thread with a MSFT engineer who acknowledges the bug:

I can confirm that the latest cumulative update has the Broadcom x fix. But starting with the creators update the optimizations are now available on client versions. We are working on resolving this until it is resolved. Although Anniversary Update works fine with this driver, currently 30 Aprilif Windows 10 Creators' Update is installed, the driver will stop a clean-install from completing circling dots circle for ever.

This thread is locked. Just to flag up that there was an update on this issue on June 6th from a Microsoft representative page 10 of this thread. In reply to Anne Ros's post on May 21, Unfortunately the Broadcom x has a bug where it returns incorrect responses when Windows asks it about support for the hardware optimizations. It's only the last couple of days this has been happening.

On an upgrade install, the ethernet driver also takes down the WiFi driver so you can't connect to a network through either route. In reply to jvoric's post on April 30, Windows 10 Pro x User's post on June 1, Or maybe somebody knows differently?

It worked the second time, I have the controller enabled and everything is working now so I assume the fix worked for me.
